AAC Communication Boards
To support communication across different contexts, Prof Juan Bornman and Gert Koekemoer (University of Stellenbosch) revised three sets of Tobii Dynavox communication boards, each available in English, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa (Translation supported by Meyisi Twana). These boards are designed to bridge communication gaps and ensure inclusivity across settings:
Medical Context Board – Supports patients and healthcare providers during medical emergencies and consultations.
Preschool Board – Helps young children express themselves and engage in daily preschool routines.
School Board – Assists learners in communicating effectively in the classroom and school environment.
These tools are practical, easy to use, and culturally relevant. They can be printed, laminated, or used digitally to empower communication in moments when it matters most.
